Abstract
The Women in Nuclear Central Asia (WINCA) Network is committed to advancing education and training as essential elements for strengthening radiological security, nuclear safeguards, nuclear security, and sustainability across the region. Understanding the significance of capacity-building and gender equality, WINCA has designed and implemented programs to empower women professionals and support their meaningful contributions to the nuclear sector. This presentation examines WINCA’s focused efforts to promote education and training, emphasizing initiatives such as workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs that address radiological security, nuclear materials management, and international safeguards. These initiatives are tailored to overcome the unique challenges faced by women in technical fields, creating opportunities for professional growth and leadership development. It also highlights the tangible outcomes of WINCA’s work, including increased participation of women in technical and leadership roles, strengthened regional collaboration, and the creation of educational materials adapted to the region’s specific needs. By fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and inclusivity, WINCA not only enhances the professional development of women but also contributes to a more robust and secure nuclear environment in Central Asia. The presentation will further discuss WINCA’s collaborations with international organizations, educational institutions, and industry leaders, which have expanded the scope and impact of its training programs. These partnerships enable WINCA to address emerging challenges in the nuclear sector, including the integration of renewable energy, cybersecurity, and waste management. By equipping women with the skills to lead in these evolving areas, WINCA strengthens its role as a platform for sharing best practices and driving the adoption of gender-responsive training frameworks worldwide.
