Abstract
The growing demand for nuclear security and safety awareness among professionals has gained global attention in recent years. This paper presents a case study from Brazil, exploring effective strategies to promote nuclear security through social networks. Representing Brazil as an ambassador for the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS), the author leverages platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram to disseminate critical information on topics such as radioactive material transportation, physical protection, cybersecurity, and peaceful nuclear applications. The initiative not only simplifies complex concepts into accessible and engaging formats but also highlights and promotes female leadership in the nuclear sector. The study underscores the potential of social networks as powerful tools for enhancing knowledge-sharing and collaboration, particularly in addressing Brazil’s challenges in implementing physical protection measures across its extensive medical, industrial, and research facilities involving radioactive materials. The country manages 2,500 facilities and more than 500 radioactive sources, including high-risk materials like Iridium-192, Selenium-75, and Cobalt-60.
