In response, the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) emphasizes adaptable, forward-thinking international cooperation to address common challenges and reinforce the rules-based international order. The war in Ukraine has underscored the critical need for nuclear safety and security in conflict zones, amplifying the urgency of international collaboration on emergency preparedness and the protection of nuclear facilities. Simultaneously, the global demand for new nuclear power technologies requires a reassessment of safety frameworks and risk management strategies. Moreover, the role of nuclear energy in combating climate change necessitates regulatory readiness for new technologies.
