THE ACTIVITIES OF THE ESARDA WORKING GROUPS

The work of the Esarda working groups on Low Enriched Uranium Fabrication Plants (LEU), Mixed plutonium/uranium oxide plants (MOX), Techniques and Standards for non-Destructive Analysis (NDA), Techniques and Standards for Destructive Analysis (DA), Containment and Surveillance Techniques (C/S), Materials Input Verification at Reprocessing Plants (MIV) and Mathematical and Statistical Problems (M/S), is presented and reviewed. Special attention is given to the role of operators in evaluating safeguards approaches and in stimulating research in areas that have a direct bearing on nuclear material management in bulk handling facilities.
