Abstract
At CEA establishments, acidic radioactive liquid effluents are transported in tank vehicles. Operational requirements led to the design of a Type B(U)F package with a useful capacity of 4000 L for maximum permissible activities of 110 TBq (3 x 104 Ci). This is a package of cylindrical form which includes (1) a central element serving to confine the liquid effluent and provide a seal vis-l-vis the environment, and (2) peripheral elements which provide triple protection - mechanical, biological and thermal. The design and fittings of the package were studied with a view to providing the operator with a maximum of safety while respecting the requirements and specifications of the regulations in force.
