Abstract
PAPER NOT AVAILABLE ABSTRACT: Optical fiber sensor based intrusion detection systems have only recendy become available as commercial produces. This paper will describe several installadons using this technology which senses morion, vibration, and pressure changes. These applicadons include use on a concrete and cinder block containment wall of a nuclear power plant, deployment on the top of a building on barbed wire outriggers, on a chain link fence surrounding an electrical power substation, and buried in the gravel in a fenced clear zone. This new technology is significant because of its versatility, intrinsic safety, immunity to electro-magnetic interference, and economics. Further, these new generation sensors come with a new generation of signal processing which can better identify intrusion from natural occurrence.
