Abstract
1bis paper is an account of work performed within a multi-lateral research project on the radiological risks associated with the transportation of Type A packaged radioactive material. The research project has been performed on behalf of the European Commission (DG XVII) and various national agencies of the participating countries and involved organisations and institutes of five EU Member States, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK. The principal objectives of the research project were the assessment and appraisal of the potential radiological risks of road transport accidents involving Type A package shipments in participating EU Member States.
