ASSESSMENT OF IRRADIATED NUCLEAR FUEL TRANSPORT IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF INDEPENDENT STATES (CIS)

Irradiated nuclear fuels (INFs) are transported regularly in and between the New Independent States (NIS). Under the TACIS Programme (Technical Assistance to the Commonwealth of Independent States), the European Commission has funded this project devoted to the assessment of transports of INF in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine in collaboration with local State Organizations, competent Authorities, nuclear facilities and transport companies. This paper will present the development of this project during the two years of its implementation as well as its main results.
