Abstract
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) plans to establish a medical isotope project tlrat would ensure a reliable domestic supply of molybdenum-99 (99Mo) and relaJed medical isotopes (lodine-125, 1odine-131, and Xenon-133). The Department's plan for production will modify the Annular Core Research Reactor(ACRR) and associated hot cell facility a Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)/New Mexico and the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Transportation activities associated with such production is discussed.
