INVENTORY VERIFICATION AT AN AEC-OVJKED CONTRACTOR SITE

This is a description of the activities conducted to obtain an independ- ent verification of an SS materials inventory in the Chemical Processing and Plutonium Finishing facilities at Richland. The procedures to assure a complete and accurate inventory of all SS materials, together with a descrip- tion of the independent inventory tests conducted is included. The independ- ent inventory tests consisted of: 1. Neutron multiplication methods to verify plutonium content and isotopic composition in product buttons. 2. Single and multichannel analyzers for checking plutonium content in plutonium nitrate solution. 3. Neutron counting of waste cartons to determine plutonium content.
