Abstract
Replacing analogue video systems by digital video systems has become an important issue for safeguards surveillance. The paper explains the main reasons for going digital, examines the safeguards requirements and gives an overview of the technical options currently being tested or considered by the Commission of the European Communities Euratom Safeguards Directorate.
