Abstract
New compact mechanical designs for the portable surveillance unit (PSU) will allow it to be used in a number of additional applications. The PSU will be available in two configurations, both of which will provide a system for the surveillance s i t u a t i o n s that require easy, temporary installation. One configuration will have one EVO 210 video recorder to provide reliable operation for a small number of surveillance scenes (-600) as may be encountered over weekends. The second configuration will have two video recorders to provide increased capabilities -for-1 arger surveTii ance scenes 7 The ^Strffas Tts own internal battery for operation up to 24 hours depending upon the recording time interval. It can be plugged into the AC power mains for longer s u r v e i l l a n c e periods. The one recorder configuration provides more than adequate reliability for small scene numbers. A reliability of over .99 will be provide by the two recorder configuration. The PSU has the capability to record 26,000 scenes at time intervals from one to 99 min. The videotapes from the PSU can be automatically reviewed to detect missing scenes or tamper signals. A CMOS microprocessor is used to generate control functions for the video recorder(s) and to provide a simple user interface for programming the unit.
