Abstract
The Portable Surveillance Unit (PSU) uses 8 mm video recorder technology to provide a system for surveillance situations that require quick setups. The PSU has its own internal battery for short duration operations without being plugged into AC power mains. Longer surveillance periods can be provided by plugging the PSU into AC power mains. The PSU has the capability to record 26,000 scenes at time intervals of 1 to 99 minutes. The videotapes from the PSU can be reviewed by the MIVS review station. A CMOS microprocessor is used to generate the control functions for the video recorder and to provide a simple user interface for unit programming.
