Laboratory/Field Evaluation of Modified Cobra Seal System

A Modified Cobra Seal System has been developed at Sandia National Laboratories. This fiber optic seal system is an updated version of the original Cobra Seal System, which was an in situ verifiable seal designed for use by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Modified Cobra Seal System has been designed to take advantage of current technology, and to address suggestions for improvement made by users of the original Cobra Seal System. A description of the Modified Cobra Seal System is presented, and the results of preliminary testing of the prototype system are discussed in this paper.
