Nuclear Cities Initiative: A National Laboratory View

The Nuclear Cities Initiative is a program that demonstrates the good that can be done when a partnership is developed among the government, the national laboratories, non- governmental organizations (NGOs), and the private sector. An important aspect of that partnership is the experience that the national laboratories bring to the mix. This includes the common experience that the laboratories share with the institutes of the nuclear cities, but it goes beyond that. Out of their common experience a set of relationships has developed that has helped establish a level of trust and confidence between the scientists, engineers, and technicians at Russian nuclear institutes, and their colleagues from the U.S. national laboratories.
