Computerized Nuclear Material Accounting System for Nuclear Power Plants

Accounting for and control of nuclear materials is required by the National Office of Nuclear Material Control(NONMC) for nuclear power reactors, a 300 MW PWR at Qinshan Nuclear Power Station and twin 900 MW PWRs at Daya-Bay Nuclear Power Station. The Computerized Nuclear Material Accounting System at the facility level for these two stations were designed by the Section of Technical Research for Nuclear Safeguards, China Institute of Atomic Energy, to keep records of the quantities of nuclear fuel received, produced, shipped, lost or otherwise removed from inventory, and quantities on inventory. The methodology of database structure design and database operation as well as the main features of the software package are covered in this paper.
