Abstract
Sandia National Laboratories has developed a new two-way RF-based electronic sensor platform, manufactured by Allied Signal FM&T, which builds on Sandia's past generations on RF-based sensors. This new electronic sensor platform is called the T-1 and provides a practical solution for remote monitoring of nuclear materials. Uses include inventory control, surveillance interval extension, and material state state of health monitoring with both domestic and international applications. The T-1 is designed to operate reliably in adverse environments and is packaged to provide long life in high radiation environments. Design features include active tamper sensing, RF message authentication, tamper indicating packaging, and completely stand-alone remote operation when interfaced with Sandia's Material Monitoring System software.
