Abstract
As part of the joint U.S. and Republic of Kazakhstan nuclear Material Protection, Control, and Accounting (MPC&A) program, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is providing assistance at four nuclear facilities in Kazakhstan. These facilities are the Ulba Metallurgical Plant, the National Nuclear Center (NNC) Institute of Atomic Energy at Kurchatov (IAE-K), the Mangyshlak Atomic Energy Complex (BN-350) Reactor, and the NNC Institute of Atomic Energy at Alatau (IAE-A). This paper describes the DOE MPC&A physical protection program at each of the facilities.
