Abstract
As a consequence of the termination of the cold war, concerns regarding nuclear proliferation have been increasing worldwide. Thus, it has become an essential factor for PNC to gain public trust of their activities in order to continue the research and development of civilian plutonium utilization technology. PNC has begun to actively take initiatives on an international scale to improve transparency, openness and to contribute to nonproliferation. A few examples of PNC’S new initiatives include the hosting of an international forum on nuclear nonproliferation, the support of Kazakhstan’s State Systems of Accounting for and Control (SSAC) of nuclear materials and the dissemination of nonproliferation information.
