WHAT WE CAN SEE ON SAFEGUARDS FROM THE ATOMIC ENERGY WHITE PAPER AND THE ANNUAL REPORT

The Japanese government used to publish the Atomic Energy White Paper every year and the IAEA also publishes the Annual Report yearly. Both papers contain articles on safeguards implementation including important statistics. This paper describes the safeguards implementation in Japan and in the world which can be seen from the above two papers. The feature of the paper is to show many tables compiled from various tables appeareb in the Papers and Reports. These tables cover not only one year but several years, therefore changes of quantities of nuclear materials and numbers of facilities under safeguards, inspection efforts(PDIs) and so on can be understood. This paper will provide the basic information to improve effectiveness and efficiency of international safeguards.
