Needs and Activities of Euratom related to Development and Innovation for Safeguards

Abstract
Euratom is continuously searching to improve the means to attain its safeguards objectives. This is reflected both in the initiatives and developments underway inside the Directorate at Luxembourg and in the implementation of modern technology in the plpants under Euratom safeguards. The paper addresses a number of current developments, the most important Euratom needs presently of concern and expresses some visions for the future. The channels through which Euratom addresses it s needs are covered as well as the collaborative efforts in the field of R&D with relevant other commission services, with third parties with the IAEA.
