Abstract
The history of Canadian support to the IAEA is briefly traced from early co-operation in.the TRUST program, which was a tripartite venture with IAEA and USA, through phases covering safeguards equipment development at Pickering NGS and at Douglas Point NGS under research agreements between Canada and IAEA, to the preseut safeguards support program. The scope of the present support program is discussed with particular emphasis being placed on assistance to the IAEA in the form of provision of experts on a cost-free basis and activities related to training and familiarization of IAEA staff in the operation and maintenance of jointly-developed equipment. The interactions between the various groups involved within both IAEA and Canada is reviewed based, on. experience gained during the 5 years duration of the support program in its present form.
